About Daisigns

Hello and welcome! My name is Dorothy Emerson, and I am the owner and artist behind Daisigns (pronounced DY-ZYNZ).

I have lived on the Monterey Peninsula, California since 1981. My passion for art is directly related to the incredible beauty of the area and the abundance and variety of flowers, especially wildflowers. I have used native flowers as a major theme and have otherwise painted anything floral that inspires me. In the past I have enjoyed using a variety of mediums - watercolors still being my favorite - and have experimented with different styles of painting, from detailed to expansive. I have also been commissioned to hand paint on fabric and linens to match china patterns for table settings, on ceramics, and for gift cards using my designs.

My current focus is taking my original floral watercolor paintings and making repeat patterns so I can share my love for flowers through fabric, wallpaper, home decor, and fashion. Many of my watercolor paintings are still waiting to be turned into repeat pattern designs. I cherish ever moment I get in this process. It is a challenge I look forward to every day.

Travel has always been a passion and has allowed me to visit inspirational places - from an Italian art studio in Tuscany in 1978 to Monet's home and garden in Giverny, France in 2023. Although my experience in Italy was brief, it instilled a love of creating, which is still very much a part of my art and my way of thinking - a constant reminder of the amazing possibilities for creating beautiful art.

My designs are currently available on Spoonflower - a U.S.-based print on demand company, specializing in fabric and wallpaper printing, and home decor product manufacturing. Please visit my Shop to see my current products and collections.

I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions and/or special requests including resizing and recoloring. I am available for licensing as well.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better.

Yours Sincerely,

Dorothy Emerson, Owner/Artist for Daisigns
